Great Gatsby (Continued)

We're back to the Great Gatsby (following our commission) and it's great to be back! We love the outfits from this sumptuous movie, they really are eye-candy for the vintage connoisseur and we bring you 2 new outfits, this time from Daisy. The first one is daisy in a very pretty white lace outfit and Theo has done a marvelous job! She hand-created the lace texture with sequins and the quality really shines through. You did a brilliant job there Theo. The picture hardly does this outfit justice so feel free to ask us for a demo or perhaps we’ll ask our resident model to wear it.

The outfit includes a Drape with Rose (which is very cleverly attached to a neck collar), White Beads, Sculptie Shoes and Ruffles. We had to shoot it against a grey background to get the lace texture to show through (esp. on the drape) but the real quality only shows through on the outfit itself.

The 2nd outfit is Daisy in a period flapper and we’ve tried to convey the unusualness of it in the prim skirt. It was quite technically challenging but Theo has done a pretty good job). Of course it can also be worn without the prim skirt to give it a more authentic look. This outfit includes a fan (those ladies sure liked to show off), necklace (we’ve done enough beads for now but of course you can wear your own), sculptie shoes, and a rather fetching scultpie hat.

We’ve another 2 outfits to do from this movie so watch this space, they will be done real soon!

And finally for the guys....

And finally, you didn't think we'd forget you guys? Two classic European-style Riding Habits in Burgundy and Black which also include banded Riding Hats. These outfits can be worn in vintage or contemporary settings as they have that timeless look to them. It's a 9 piece outfit, including gloves although those rather nifty boots are NOT included. We tried to negotiate a deal with a boot maker which fell through and we simply don't have the time to focus on making boots. Still, we presume you'll have access to good riding boots anyway, but make sure they look as good as out outfit *smiles*

Cartunno Rides West

OK, continuing with the Riding Habits theme, we bring you someting with a Western flavour. These authenticare influenced by the American West and inspired by Annie Oakley (aka Little Sure Shot). Annie used to ride side-saddle around a ring while aiming at (and hitting) targets. The Annie outfits comes in three shades of suede (Black & Purple) together with a choice of both fancy cowgirl hat and a more authentic plain floppy version.

We've also include 2 skirts; one for side saddle riding and one for walking and as with all our Riding Habits, the skirts attach to the waist allowing you to mount your horse without losing your skirt! And we also include Skirt Sitter scripts with all out outfits, where applicable. You gals should be familair with these nifty tools by now.

Cartunno Goes Horse Riding

We sidetracked this week, following a commission, and did a range of Vintage Riding Habits. I’m afraid Theo lost the plot a bit and went really manic; producing no less than a dozen outfits! OK, some of them were just colour variations but the girl sure worked her blessed cotton socks off (makes a change from all that slacking I hear you people muttering under your breath…). Only joking Theo, you dun gud!

Anyway, we bring you a very eye-catching Blue Riding Habit based on an authentic1907 design (you can just see it in the background picture on the vendor). I was blown away when I saw this, the texture really is superbly done, don’t know how you did it Theo, but it’s marvelous! It’s a European design and although vintage, has a really contemporary & timeless quality to it.

We’ve done a number of colour variations on this outfit (Imperial Green, Gold, Purple, Sea Foam and Violet) to give you extended choice and rather than clog this blog up with all these outfits, just head on down to our main store and check these babies out in person!

The outfits also include two prim skirts, one for sitting side-saddle, and one for walking and incidentally, attaches to the waist so you won’t need to fear being exposed when you ride your horse! Of course we do include Modesty Pants for such situations as a matter of course.

As an added bonus, they now all include a Skirt Sitter script especially adapted to sitting side-saddle, free of charge to you good people! A special thanks to Virrginia Tombola for this new innovation, be sure to check her store out.

Eyre Coaching House--La Bicyclet, Caledon Eyre (49, 182, 23)

You’ll find a range of really neat Antique horse riding accessories here as well as her latest sculptie horses she has been working really hard on, what beauts they are!

The Great Gatsby - The Jordan Flapper (Turqoise)

Continuing in our Great Gatsby theme, we bring you another Jordan Flapper (Turquoise). We just can't leave this lady alone and it's no wonder; she wears the most stunning outfits! This number she wears to Jay Gatsby's main dance (just before the movie enters it's dark passage) and it truly is vivacious. We think this woman really knows how to dress!

Again, it’s a 9 piece outfit which features, amongst other things, an eye-catching flexi headband. The flexi gives it a really naturalistic touch and if you think it looks rather audacious, you should see what she wears in the movie! The outfit includes Flapper beads, matching sculptie shoes and rather classy looking collar and rose motif. Theo has really created a beautiful outfit once again, my thanks to you!

We’ll be carrying on in the Great Gatsby collection so be sure to watch this space for some more exciting and mouth-watering period pieces! I know for one, I can’t wait to see what Theo produces next (presuming she doesn’t go off one of her infamous walkabouts…). Just teasing you Theo *smile*

The Great Gatsby - Jordan Flapper (Green)

We're back! Yes, it has been a week or so since we published our last offering but Theo went away on one of her all-to-common jaunts and wasn't seen for a week. God knows what she was up to, but what we don't know ain't going to hurt us *smile* She says it was connected with her job but any excuse for another slack....Anyway, she's made up for it with another fine design. We're rolling out a new clothing range and are proud to announce The Great Gatsby Collection.

This movie was set during the mid-20s (based on Scott Fitzgerald’s acclaimed book) and features an array of stunning period costumes (the designer was Oscar nominated and rightly so). We intend to roll out a collection of these sumptuous designs and to that end we bring you the Jordan Flapper (Green). This is the outfit she wears in the yellow Rolls Royce as they travel to town to alleviate their boredom (to those of you who know the movie).

For those prim lovers, we've included an optional flounce (which can be removed). The flapper looks more authentic without it, but it also looks pretty stylish with it on. This 9 piece outfit can be worn in a variety of different combinations; even the jacket can be removed to reveal quite a stylish blouse. The hat has been made from a sculptie which gives it a more organic feel and has a long ribbon/drape hanging from it. Jordan was sure one showy lady!

1930s - Astaire Morning Suit

This time an outfit especially for the gents, a Morning Suit inspired by Fred Astaire. This 11 piece outfit includes a scripted cane (non scripted is optional), prim collar (non prim collar is optional), sculptie black shoes and top hat. It's all textured very nicely in a wool effect, I especially like the waistcoat. This suit can be worn in a variety of different combinations, short/long jacket, prim or traditional collar (both look good but I do like the prim collar, it works pretty well, although you need to adjust it for your neck), quite classy. A nice touch from Theo there, thanks gal, the way to go!

Any requests for a Ginger Rogers outfit? *smile*

Moulin Rouge - Hindu Rehearsal

Although this is our first published outfit here, it's the 5th addition to our Moulin Rouge range. It features Satine (Nicole Kidman) in an exotic Hindu Rehearsal outfit, with removeable ornate jacket. Unfortunately, Theo found her head dress way too complicated (if you look closely at the background image or just watch the movie you'll see why), so she improvised and created her own. I think it's a very nice alternative and can be worn with/without the outfit.

It's a 9 piece outfit that also inludes a pair of high heel black sculptie shoes and as is standard with all our outfits (where applicable/appropriate), includes a Skirt Sitter script to maintain the dignity of your persona while you sit. The script is of course configureable to allow you to save a variety of different positions and includes fitting instructions.

For those who are not familar with what we do, we create clothing ranges based on Historic movies/periods in time. the Moulin Rouge is our latest offering (we've also done the Cabaret with Lisa Minneli and a Titanic clothing range). Curious? Just take a look at our main store at:

We also have Gift Vendors at our main store, for those wanting to surprise your loved ones.

Bringing you a vintage male suit as our next offering, watch this space!

Cartunno Couture: New Beginnings

OK, Cartunno Couture, a clothing shop extraordianaire from Second Life (A Virtual Reality Simulator, geesh where have all you people been!) is finally delving into the ambiguous world of blogging. Ambiguous because it's such a multi-faceted medium, it's like giving birth and wondering what sort of baby you're going to create. Still, we're pretty excited about it. It's going to initially be a forum for announcing new products, but who knows what sort of creation it will evolve into. There are so many blogging sites already dedicated to Second Life activities that we don’t necessarily want to recreate the wheel here. However, being open-minded, it’s just possible that it may evolve into a beautiful creation (well, if you can’t make your dreams come true in Second Life where can you?). I’m open to suggestions!

Those of you who don't know who we are (and I guess that's the majority of you), our main products are pre-40's clothing. Much of it is pretty unique; we’re trying to bring people something different! We took a stab at this niche market because the main markets are so saturated with the same type of clothing (*yawns*). We have a love for vintage fashion that transcends from First Life (note the distinction). We also have an eclectic range of Asian, Indian and Oriental clothing (Theo’s 2nd love), and a few tasty casuals.

Just some brief info about us; Theodote Carthage is the designer of all this wonderful clothing and even if I say so myself, she's pretty good. Actually, she does tend to get compliments so if you love what she does, drop her an in-world Instant Message some time, she loves the praise! (That’s ego for you, needs constant feeding or it dies). She hails from the U.S., they sure know how to make them there!

Myself, I'm the other half of this partnership and responsible for a multitude of sins (that is, if you like to buy into that concept). I prefer to call them as 'creative experiences', a metaphysical euphuism with a difference! Oh, I hail from the UK, so we're both doing our bit for transatlantic relationships (without the murky politics and shady dealings).

Anyway, now with the gory details over, (well, you were never going to get the real dirt on us were you), we leave you with a sense of anticipation (or it could just be apathy, depending on your disposition to inane ramblings), and we hope that you'll check back from time-to-time to view our products (We’re adding new ranges all the time). Who knows, we may even post the odd tasty tidbit, depending on our inclination. *smile*

Thanks for your time, we’ll see you here again (even if we have to come and drag you kicking and screaming which we’re quite prepared to do if our readership remains in single figures). *Smile*
